What was the ambient temperature when your friend took this measurement -
the computer will generate heat anyway, but it will add the energy released
as heat to the temperature from which the computer starts, which will
normally be that of the room in which it is sited...
All the best,

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Operating Temperatures of Computers
Hi Folks,
Can anyone tell me what the operating temperature of a computer should be?
I have a friend who taped a talking thermometer to the exhaust of her
computer, and the temperature registered 108 degrees F.
I have heard that some say that 80 to 120 is ok, and yet I've also heard
that only 80 to 100 is ok.
I'm confused with this and was hoping someone could clarify this for me?
I should mention that she's running Jaws 7 on an XP machine and running an
IBM aptiva slim case, if that makes a difference.
Thanks all for your help.
