I've never heard of that, I use OE and save tons of emails in many folders.
The compacting does not delete any emails, I guess it just squashes them all
together to make more room? That's the visual that popped into my brain, lol

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Saving Messages In OE
Hi listers. What is the maximum number of messages that can be safely
saved in a user-defined Outlook Express folder? The reason I am asking
this question is that I just noticed that some of the earliest messages in
my user-defined OE folders have inexplicably disappeared. Since I never
conciously deleted them, I am assuming that they were deleted
automatically by OE or by some other process I am not aware of. I know
that the Compact All Folders option compacts all OE folders to save disk
space and make OE run more efficiently, but does it also delete the oldest
messages from each folder if it has grown too large? Or are messages
automatically deleted after they have been saved for a certain period of
time? Thanks for any explanation.
Gerald
