Hello there;

if your using windows xP home addition, give these steps a try.

1. Start-menu> Settings -> Control Panel
2. enter on administrative tools
3. down arrow and enter on services
4. Tab one time to the list-view
5. Scroll down and look for, messenger, or windows messenger,,
until you hear/see messenger
6. Press the applications key,up arrow and enter on properties
7. tab until you hear/see, StartUpType, down arrow until you hear, disable
8. Now tab and enter on okay button
Now, you may have to alt+f4 to close everything.

I believe this should work.

you still should be able to use the program, but, it shouldn't start up
automatically.

Just go ahead and disable windows messenger in 'services'.
Go to start, then system, type in services in the search field there, go to
local services. Tab down to windows messenger and in the drop down box
choose 'deactivate'
Then it won't start up again.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] scripts to uninstall windows messenger

Hi, everyone,

I was trying to run a program to uninstall windows messenger but the message
I got was "this program cannot be run in dos mode". I really want to get rid
of messenger since I really don't use it so how can I make this program
work?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Rosemarie
