On your desktop, find my computer, or computer (can't remember what it's
called), hit enter on it, make sure local drive, C: is selected making use
of space bar if necessary and hit enter on it.

The root is the top level of a drive. So in this case the root of drive
C is the top level.

No it's on the root of the C drive, not Program Files or Program Files
(X86) on 64 bit editions.
