Hello there;

if you wish to remove icons from your system tray,

you should first check to see if there is an option within the program, to
not have the icon placed in the system tray,

you can also remove some items from,
start programs/startup.

otherwise, you can try;

1, desktop,

2, tab to the start button,

3, now press applications key, and up arrow enter on properties.

4, you need to make sure your on the taskbar tab, so when you enter on
properties, shift tab one time, now, use your left arrow key, you should
hear taskbar tab.

5, now tab, and press spacebar on,
hide inactive icons, now tab once more and enter on,
notification area customize....button.

6, now, you can arrow to the icon which you would like to remove,
now, right arrow to open, you will be in a combo box, with 3 choices.
make your choice,
now, tab to okay, press enter.

hope this helps.

Hi Norma;

Check the box " hide inactive icons ", tab 1 time and press space bar /
enter on " notification area customize button ". The " hide inactive icons
" box has to be checked or the " notification area customize button " won't
appear. Hope this helps. Take care.

  Hi Mike,

  I'm running Win XP Home and I do not see the notification area
  customize dialogue. The only features I have for notification area
  are show the clock and hide inactive icons. Can you provide further
  directions?

  Thanks so much,
  Norma
