Hi Jeremy

I am using XP and JAWS 11. I actually went in via the Security Centre and tabbed across to Firewall, then down arrowed but couldn't get to turn it on or off so that's when I used the JAWS cursor and managed to turn it off. I forgot to mention that I had a sighted friend with me at the time and she told me that there was a little green dot next to the firewall indicating that it was on, that changed to red when it was off.

Your way is much simpler and I have to confess to being quite ignorant as I didn't realise that if I had have continued to arrow down I would have found 'Windows Firewall' in the control panel and the whole thing would have been much easier, so thanks very much for the tip, next time that is the way I'll do it.

I am curious, is this windows xp or vista? if xp, then it's just a matter of going to control panel, windows firewall and pressing the up or down arrow to change the setting. from there, press tab a bit until you get to apply. I've never had to rout jaws to pc, that I know of to navigate anything inside control panel, except for the disk management program. :p

Hi there

On further investigation via the control panel in the security section I found the firewall and managed to turn it off, although to do so I had to use the JAWS curser to press enter at the appropriate point. Anyway, it is now off.
