Heather, You can't really delete media player 11. If you try to do it,
windows will roll itself back to an earlier version of windows media player.
what I would do is this.
Reinstall windows media player 11 right over what you have now. It will
install ok, and will correct the windows media player you have, and make it
ok again. I've done it before when I had XP and it works. Once you do that,
your WMP will work just fine.
You can Google the link for windows media player 11, or go to Microsoft.com
and find it. It will look at your computer and note that you have XP on it,
and all will work well when you reinstall it again. Jim

Subject: [Blind-Computing] deleting media player 11, ghost in the computer
My friend installed media player 11 after he reinstalled windows xp
professional. I wanted to know if I delete my media player from the
program files on the c drive, would that be okay? I found media player by
doing the following: start minue, control escape, r for run, c:\ for the
drive, p for program files, w for windows media player. It is on the
drive and I cant seem to get it to uninstall from the add remove programs.
I did properties and it said it was installed on August 5th at 1 PM., the
day I had my windows reinstalled. It is acting weird, ever sinse I got
it, if I play a file in the media player and close the media player, the
file still keeps going even when the media player is closed. I even look
in the tasks minue to see if it is still running somewhere, it cant find
it. So I have to reopen the file and hit control p to make it stop
playing. Or I have to take the cd out if it is playing from the cd
instead of just closing mediaplayer. I am starting to think my computer
has a ghost in it. Heather
