I think all VLC users and potential users should send an email to VLC to let them know it is great software, but it's accessibility is not consistent between versions. Let them know which versions work reasonably well and which versions are useless. In VLC, the interface seems to be architected to be separated from the functionality. I think they have several interface skins that they switch around and tinker with for each release. For our community, it would be nice if they provided an accessible skin that stayed accessible and probably consistent in each version. Of course, there needs to be an easy way to select the accessible interface.

Do you have a copy of the accessible 0.8 version available to share if it is not on the standard download webpage? Posting a link to a file in your DropBox or SendSpace.com would work.

The context menu, and normal menus work fine in 0.86, but, yes, in 1.1 that downloaded just now, they don't seem to be really usable at all...

I asked this question earlier in another group. the response I recieved is not only is it menu driven but it is also easily navigated by the application key which pulls up the context menu. I uninstalled it because I thought it was inaccessible. I have not had the opportunity to reinstall and check out the context menu choices yet. I've downloaded VLC, but cannot seem to get around in any menus. How exactly should I go about playing a DVD? I have XP Pro and use JAWS 8 or 10 depending on what program I am trying to use.

Thanks,

Ken

Hello all!
Want an accessible DVD and media player? Look no further than VLC Media Player! You can select what part of the DVD you want to play simply by using the VLC Media Player menus. No inaccessible DVD menu to navigate; just select what you want from the user interface. You can even select an audio described track if you have one. You can download this free and open source program from www.videolan.org. It even works with Windows 7 so you don't have to use Windows Media Player, which is good but does not have an accessible DVD player.
Enjoy!
