Hi:
When Thunderbird has focus open the configuration manager.
Then Set Options -> text processing and uncheck Detect languages and
Generalize dialect.
Press Enter or tab to the OK button and press Enter or space bar.
Save changes and exit Configuration Manager.
You may want to do this in the default.jcf file to apply it to all
programs etc.
If you only speak English you should be just fine by disabling it system
wide.
