I have heard that this service pack will not contain any new features. I have not personally done massive research on this, I am just repeating from a Windows 7 expertfrom the Windows Weekly podcast on the twit.tv network. I am not sure how valuable the beta will be for most users since it is a roll-up of the individual updates. It may do nothing for users who keep their systems up to date. This Service Pack will interest people deploying and supporting many computers.

As for this bug, I would still be hopeful that it is fixed soon!

All.
I read on some release notes for a software (VMWare Player) that one of
the supported guest operating systems is Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Beta.
(Yes, beta.) so we can presume that Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is on its
way and Microsoft will release it when they're ready.
Stay tuned.

Yes, I too agree that this is a major thumbs down on Windows 7's explorer utility, but hopefully a service pack is in the works to address this problem. It is very common and it isn't just us, its many other people.

I hope I didn't come off too strong, but my goal was to persuade others to think about their problems in a more objective and methodical manner and not just, I haven't heard about this so it must not exist.

Hi all.
Andre thanks for the clarification. In that case I would agree this is a
Microsoft problem and they should fix it by the time the first service
pack for Windows 7 comes out. That's my hoping anyway. I guess I and
others are very lucky in that we may have this problem on one platform
but not the other.

No gram, your 64 bit version is just fine and jaws has nothing to do with this. Please keep in mind that because you see these posts on these lists it doesn't make it true. If you run a Google search you will find that 32 bit versions of Windows 7 have this problem too. Last night I spent some 4 hours researching this, and let me save you some time, it appears to be common and no solution seems to exist. Like these lists, you're gonna get some insane convoluted suggestions but you will conclude that this is a problem only Microsoft can fix. Again, if you have a Windows 7 64 bit version installed you are no more likely to get these spontaneous explorer crashes than if you were using a 32 bit machine. Those who say they went back to a 32 bit machine and are no longer getting these crashes probably don't use Explorer much, or it can be a number of other reasons they are not aware of. Again these crashes are spontaneous and the cause has not been discovered. You're actually l
u
cky, many have reported their computer showing these explorer crashes when they right click or when they focus on the taskbar. I have some ideas of what is causing this but my goal on these lists isn't to appear as though I have all the solutions, so I will wait until I have a good understanding of the problem before I post. It is still happening here, I am beginning to wonder if it is a jaws 64
thing. As far as I am aware my pc is fully upto date.

This is becoming a really annoying problem, I wonder if others out here are having this problem? If so perhaps FS should be made aware. Really dont
know if it is jaws related at all.

For that error you may want to check for any updates for the computer. I
had that problem big time with vista but thought it was fixed in win 7.

    Hi

Jaws 12, windows 7

I am getting a problem in Explorer.

When I open a folder and start arrowing down through the files Jaws
stops and when I alt tab back I am told the folder name and that it is not responding, pressing Alt f4 gives me options to wait for program to
respond or quit program.

Any ideas what is happening

Graham
