Openbook does save as an image I think. Pearl does require a computer to operate. This is what I meant when I said that it won't sub for a standalone scanner such as things like the sara. But it will replace a "regular" scanner. Much faster!!

What is prompting my inquiry is my current scanner (an all in one feed through HP) and OCR software (OmniPage pro 15) leaves many limitations. I have omnipage 12 and openbook is much better.
