Yes, if you want to use NVDA, you have to turn off Jaws. If you want to use Jaws, you have to turn off NVDA.

I think you have to turn off NVDA and use jaws.  And when you want NVDA you
have to turn off jaws.  I don't think there is a way to have one silent
while you use the other if there both on at the same time.  Heather
