Also I think that if you are running a demo of Image for Windows you will
not be able to either make or restore a back up, I can't remember if it is
both or one of the actions but don't go making a backup thinking you can
restore it because it wont until you have a legit copy of I for W.

I myself have never even bothered launching the built-in windows7 backup
utility, but if its like Microsoft's other offerings I think I'll just stick
with Image for Windows. Long ago I tried using the new drive formatting tool
in Windows 7, and it was so limiting that after wasting a weekend trying to
get it to work, I simply used a third-party product and created my
partitions in minutes. I was very angry but I guess that's what I get for
trying to get Ferrari performance from a Toyota.

There is a windows image in win 7. I have used it to backup. It would
require sighted assistance to recover. I use to use acronis on my old xp
machine.
Again I could not recover without sighted assistance. I listened to the
tatorials that David made. They are great that prompted me to download the
program. I did not understand why the install wanted to make a dos cisk now
I understand.

Lenny,

Although this has been somewhat answered already, the bottom
line is if you make the DOS recovery disk you will need
sighted assistance to use it which, in my opinion, negates
the reason most of us on this list chose to go with the
program to begin with. David's new tutorial, Image for
windows 3, gives another way to get around this if you
don't want to use Optical disks. David & I have both used
the USB bridge way very successfully.

I'm still using Window's XP pro but I've hear there is an
image backup built into Window's 7? Have you used it and is
it able to be used without sighted assistance?
Al

I just downloaded the trial version. One of the default
install options is to create a dos recovery disc. Is this
necessary? I am using windows 7 32 bit.
