The
Flash is all over the DirecTV website, especially the guide. The DirecTV App certainly does not contain Flash. I do not have an iPhone, so I can't comment on how it works.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] RV: Question on using DVR

It should be possible to manage your DirecTV DVR from your iPhone. I
think the app is free in the Apple App Store.

The mobile site to schedule the DVR from a PC in a IE or Firefox used to
be my favorite method. However, it no longer allows access from a PC.
The guide on the main site uses a lot of Flash and is not accessible.
This was not true until this year. I have been a customer since 1995
and they have heard plenty from me recently.

To browse through the TV listings, I use the TitanTV.com site. It is
very customizable allowing you to select provider or providers, favorite
channels, font size, what info is displayed, and much more. The guide
can view up to 6 hours in a grid contained in a true html table. This
means that the table navigation keys for JAWS or orca easily let you
move through the channels (up and down), and through the time slots
(left and right). Times and channel names are naturally announced as
the table headings.

I used to have a JAWS Script that helped schedule a recording on the DVR
from the TitanTV grid, but until DirecTV provides a website where I can
get to the correct date, time and channel, I can not get this to work
again.

Asunto: Question on using DVR

Hi everyone,

I know that perhaps this isn't a subject that directly deals with this list, but this is also a list made up of blind people who always help one another
out with new things.

So, here's the deal.

I just got a great deal on phone, Internet, and TV. The TV is with DirectTV and part of that comes with a DVR. With the latest technological advances, is it possible for a totally blind person like myself to use a DVR with any
sort of ease?

I know that some can be managed via a computer, and if that's the case, how
well does something like that work with JAWS? Does anyone know anything
about this? What about an IPhone? Does anyone know about that?

If this is the case, then I'll keep the DVR. If not, then it probably
doesn't make sense to have it, does it?

Please share your thoughts either on or off list.

I apologize for the subject matter.

Jim Portillo
