Dan:
As Maria said, the display is the pricey part. There are all manner of
options out there these days but if you don't need Braille, then think about
a Netbook. These are generally less expensive than a laptop, smaller,
lighter, and generally sufficient for those of us not doing a lot of
graphics. If you need Braille, then maybe something like APH's Braille Plus
(if they're still available), paired with a Refreshabraille 18 would work.
The nice thing about some of these new displays is that they're
Bluetooth-enabled, so they can be used with everything from a laptop to your
Iphone or other smartphone.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] braillenote, pacmate or laptop;

What are the advantages of having a braillenote or pacmate, verses a laptop
with jaws on it? to me, the pacmate and braillenote are pricy and I'm just
wondering if a laptop with jaws would serve me just as well. thanks,

Dan
