Hi,
I finally got my PDF manual to read. I did as you suggested and did a
scan for image with OmniPage and it worked perfectly.
Now I can read the manual and be prepared for my new electronic toy
when I receive it sometime next week.
Again, thanks for that idea. Take care.

Hello,
The main stream programs like omnipage, as well as the adaptive one,
Kurzweil 1000, will also scan an image file without having to print it
out first.

Hi Lennie,
Try the following. I hope you have OpenBook.
Open Book has this capability.
When you are in Adobe, use Control P to print.
But instead of the default printer, Arro down to, Freedom Import
Printer & press enter.
When you choose this printer to print to, Open Book will start, scan the
pdf file as if it were a paper file in your scanner, and hopefully leave
you with readable text.
Be patient, it may take a couple minutes for Open Book to boot and start
scanning.
Hope you have OpenBook & this helped. Take care.
Mike

Many times PDF files are images rather than text JAWS can
read. If you have FS Open Book try opening the Freedom
import printer. If you don't the only other suggestion I
have is to print, scan, and then read. The later option is a
pain but I remember at my last job prior to retiring I had
to do that often

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Protection Error in reading a PDF
file
Hi,
I am using Adobe Reader 9 to read my PDF files. I downloaded
a new
PDF document today and Jaws said the following message which
for some
reason is not displayed on the screen.
The author set this document security settings in such a
way that
prevent access.
Then Jaws says: Alert: Protection error.
This document is 9,924 KB in size so there is data there.
Does anyone know a work around for this error so that I can
read the document?
Any assistance will greatly be appreciated. It is a quick
guide
manual for a new electronic device that I ordered yesterday
and I
want to be prepared to use it when I receive it.
Thanks. Take care.
Lennie
