For what it is worth, just tried going to target site and it
opened with no problem. I'm using Window's XP Pro, latest
JAWS and IE 8

So this is not a screen reader issue. Then Target must be
deliberately
blocking access to its web site to all consumers, blind and
sighted alike,
who use certain browsers. This makes absolutely no sense.
The rocket
scientists at Target who designed their web site are the
same lame brains
who are probably now wondering why their holiday sales are
down.

Generally, The websites are programmed to see what type of
browsers are
accessing them. Then the sites are developed to give the
best visual
display
to the browsers that most often access them. Thus, I am
not sure why the
IE
8 would not display as good as IE 9.

I was under the impression that Target had made a serious
effort to
improve
the accessibility of its web site for blind consumers.
So imagine my surprise when I attempted to visit
Target.com today and got
the following error message:

of the latest
versions listed below to get the most out of your
Target.com experience.

What the heck is going on here? What do they mean that my
browser is not
supported? I'm running XP Pro with IE 8, so since when is
this browser
not
supported? IE 8 is the latest version of Internet
Explorer that can run
under XP, which, the last time I checked will continue to
be supported by
Microsoft through at least 2014. And don't even get me
started with
Firefox. Is there some reasonable explanation for this
message? Could my
screen reader, JAWS 9, be the culprit? Is there a work
around for this
problem? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
