(UNCLASSIFIED)

Hi William,
Personally, If I were going to scan a document and did not want optical
character recognition, I would use the Windows Paint Program. There is a
feature in this program to import images directly from the scanner.
To get to the paint program, first press the windows key, next up arrow
once. You will hear all programs. Next press enter and you will hear back
sub menu. Up arrow once more and you will be in the program file list. Press
A until you land on accessories. Then press enter again. Then press P until
you land on paint. Press enter and you should be in the paint program.
Once in paint, do an alt F. This will open the file menu. Down arrow to
Scanners and cameras. Press enter and you should be able to import an image
from your default scanner.
The place that might be more challenging is a document with several
pages, or one that is double sided pages. With these one needs to preset the
scanner software to default to the proper settings to do what you need.
Someone else probably has more experience than I do in this area.
     I hope this helps.

God bless,
Mark

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Sending images of documents via Email
(UNCLASSIFIED)

Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE

All: I have a couple forms containing both text and signatures which I need
to Email.
I've been told by generally reliable sources that this is possible without
resorting to programs like Openbook. I have a good scanner and am running
Windows 7. My understanding at this point is that there are settings to
change in the scanners and cameras portion of the control panel, and that
the print screen function is used to capture the entire image, which can
then be inserted into an Email.
Anybody know what I'm talking about and have good directions for how to do
this?
Thanks in advance.
