Using XP, this is what I get when I type the specified file path into the
open dialog of Notepad:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.20080707-090638.ba

Hello there;
Well, performing the steps and changing the host file,
I receive the following;
Save As
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.txt
You don't have permission to save in this location.
Contact the administrator to obtain permission.
Would you like to save in the My Documents folder instead?
Yes No

The file he is referring to is a text file with a very specific purpose.
It
is used to resolve DNS conflicts on rare occasions. Honestly I haven't
opened mine in several years since it has not been anything I have needed
for quite some time.
It will open in notepad just fine.

I'm a little confused about these steps. How do you open a file in
Notepad?
Could you explain these steps in more detail?

Here is what I read on another list and it works.
Hi,
Just the domain expired, the webvisum server still works. Not sure for
how
long though.
To make webvisum work again, follow these steps:
1. open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc;
2. using notepad, open the file "hosts" with no extension;
3. add the following line to the end of the file:
204.14.19.231 api.webvisum.com
