Hi Sherri,

Thank you very much for these tips. I'm sure they will help my friend a
great deal! I'll forward this to him.
Take care.

I have either the same computer or very similar. I found that if I let
the
computer go to sleep and then wake up I got the control alt tab or control
any other key. My solution was to never allow it to sleep.
I think the other problem is the Function key thing as you suggested. The
default for the computer was to have the function keys set to a bunch of
Dell stuff. To change them back to normal go to the Windows Mobility
Center
and tab down to the Function key behavior choice. Then you can still use
the Dell functions by holding the Function key (between the left Control
and
alt keys and pressing the F whatever keys. The main ones I use in this
manner are for volume. Function plus F11 is volume down, Function plus F12
is volume up, and most important Function plus F13 is mute/unmute. Very
handy for the times when the computer gets muted for whatever reason.
incidentally the Windows Mobility Center is the first of the three flat
buttons at the very top right or do search in the start window.
  HTH

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Del Laptop Keystroke Question

  Hi All,

A friend is trying to get Jaws to work correctly on a Del Inspiron 512
computer running Windows7 64 bit & Jaws13 latest. When he invokes the,
Alt
+ Tab keystroke, Jaws reports control, alt, + tab. Or, When he types the
quote sign, Jaws reports a Spanish letter. Does this behavior have
something to do with the FN key & its functions? If so, how can or, what
can he do to make Jaws report correctly? All help will be greatly
  appreciated.
  Take care.
  Mike
