Subject: [Blind-Computing] Deleting books from bard cartridges
Here we go.
1. Connect your usable cartridge to the computer with it's USB cord. I use
the short cord that goes to my little digital recorder because it is the
same kind of cord. It has a big end to plug into the cartridg and a little
USB end to plug into the computer. The characters on both ends of the cord
are facing up. The cartridge is faceing up the way you would put it in the
player. I'm putting this description down in case there is someone who
hasn't seen the way this thing goes together.
. Go to the desktop. Arrow down to my computer and enter.
3. Arrow down to the drive the cartridge is plugged into. In my case, I
have local, CD drive and the burner below it. That is E in my case. When I
plug my cartridge in, it says< "F."
4. Enter on the drive letter your cartridge is plugged into. There will be
a list of the books on the cartridge. I start at the top of the list, hold
down the control key and hit the spacebar to select the ones I want to
delete. That way I don't have to select them without skipping any. I can
arrow down and skip one or two in between, if I wish. Holding the left
shift key down while you arrow down will select them in the order they are
in the list. If I want to get rid of them all at once, which I have done
sometimes, I just hit control A, which selects them all to be deleted or
moved.
5. After selecting books to be deleted or moved, hit the delete key and it
will send them to the recycle bin. I hold down shift and the delet key so
that it will bypass the recycle bin. If I want a book again I can download
them, anyhow. This whole thing applies to any thumb or external drive. You
plug them in and do it the same way.
I hope this helps anybody who is beginning with downloading bard books. I
have a folder for every letter of the alphabet and one for a music
instruction folder. I put all the authors in their separate folders. I am
collecting more and more books so that they don't have to be mailed to me.
I have lots now. I love my empty cartridges. I didn't have a thumb drive
at the time I bought them.
God bless. Excuse the novel.
