ANSI and this is going to tax my memory is American National Standard of Information. ASCII is American Standard Code of Information Interchange.
ANSI is more of a protocol where ASCII is a character value, for example the letter a is ASCII value of 96 and the letter A is a value of 65. There was a time I could write my name in ASCII of course that kind of thing doesn't impress the ladies very much so I never told Patty that until after we were married.
