It only closes the current window that you are in. Alt + F4 will not close
other Word applications that are open.

If you want to close all open windows for Word, use the following steps:

Press Alt + F (File)
Press X (Exit)
You will be prompted to save files if any edits have been done. You may also be
asked if you want to review recovered documents at a later date, I usually
state yes and continue. (Never know if there's a document you want recovered
from there!)

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Is Alt F4 the only way to close a program?

Hi all,
Whenever I close a Word document with Alt F4, The Microsoft Word program is
still running in my task manager. Am I closing my documents incorrectly? I
noticed this with both Word 2007 and Word 2010, using Jaws 14.
Thanks for any help,
Stephanie
