That cave is probably the first place in the game where exploration is
getting really serious. Everybody got lost for one hour or two there.
Personally I waste two hours, also because I went back regularly to the
city in a safe place to heal my manamons.
There will be more and more often places like this as you progress
afterwards.

As far as I remember, global you go south west for a long while, then
find a somewhat longer path, then go up north east again, and finally
find a ladder on the north. But everything is constructed to make you
get lost and turn round. At the same time there are a lot of chests and
bonuses.
