Yes the intro is part of the game. If it's the first time you have loaded it, press enter on new game. You will then be prompted to select a slot to save the game in, just select slot one. It should then ask is this the first time playing the gate? Answer yes and you will get the beginning of the story, where Patric is trying to help his Mum. After this, if you listen out for the words in the first level, this is the description.
