A month or so ago I talked about trying the Nexus Mud Client to play a
text-based game called Alteraeon. I was spooked because they wanted both my
email address and its associated password to create a Nexus account which would
allow me to add this third-party game to the app. Today I decided to give it a
whirl. I created the Nexus account just fine. And added the blind-friendly info
for Alteraeon with seemingly no issues. But when I tried to create a character
I couldn't get it to accept my commands. I could type okay, but the game
wouldn't get past the fact that the character name I typed wasn't an existing
character and I couldn't proceed with character creation. So that didn't work
out.
The good news is that if you close Nexus and go back in, you end up back at the
main page where you find an Account button near the bottom. Click that and one
of the options will allow you to permanently delete your account from the Nexus
servers.
Just thought I'd give everyone an update. If the app and game would have worked
better together, I think we could have had a good experience with this one; it
seems keyboard-friendly and the one time I managed to get into settings all the
gauges, map, compass, etc. were already turned off and everything seemed
controllable through checkboxes. But unforsunately, this thing is not ready for
prime time, even with blind-friendly ports like Alter's backing it up.
