Hello all

Below is a current update from USA Games. I hope this willl straighten out
the potential confusion in the most recent magazine about the status of
Alchemy's titles. I'm thrilled to see that Tom has stepped forward to continue
work on Raceway & Monty. Not to mention Star Trek Final Conflict which I've
had alot of fun playing.

Here it is:

Pre-order Product Refunds

Attention former Alchemy customers,
When USA Games acquired Montezuma's Revenge and Raceway from Alchemy
Game Studios we had fully intended to offer product refunds to anyone
who wanted one. Unfortunately, we had not expected the number of
requests which was submitted to our sales department. The number of
requests and the current amount being asked for in refunds is a major
financial concern for USA Games's owner and developer Thomas Ward and
those who help him run USA Games Entertainment. The current total of
refund requests between the two titles is a substantial amount of money.
As a result we have had to rethink our refund policy.
We are sorry, but as of 3/21/2006 USA Games is now offering store
credits to refunded customers rather than physical cash. With these
credits you will be able to use them towards the purchase of any USA
Games title, Final Conflict, Raceway, or Montezuma's Revenge. If none of
the current titles sound interesting to you simply keep your credits on
file, and use them when a title is developed that you like, and then
apply them to that purchase. This is the only fair way we feel we can
offer you a product refund, and not financially harm our new company in
the process.
Please understand that part of the deal with Alchemy Game Studios was
that none of the money acquired for these titles using pre-orders would
be transfered to USA Games Entertainment. As a result we can't just
refund you the money you paid, and the source of funds would have to
come directly out of our personal incomes. Funds that all of us at USA
Games Entertainment use to feed our families, provide things for our
children, pay the bills, etc. In the end offering store credits instead
seams to be the fairist solution for all involved.
We are truly sorry it must be this way. We would like to offer product
refunds, but are unable to provide them do to the prier reasons given
above. If you have questions about this new policy e-mail us at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
and we will attempt to answer your questions to the best of our ability.
In addition you can follow the status of all our titles, breaking news,
etc from our web site

Raceway and Montezuma's Revenge

Attention Raceway and Montezuma's Revenge fans,
We know that there may still be some confusion in the accessible game
community about these two titles so we would like to take a moment to
bring everyone up to speed on current events.
As of late February and early March 2006 USA Games fully acquired the
rights, source code, sounds, and sales records from Alchemy Game Studios
for Montezuma's Revenge and Raceway. We are continuing development on
these two titles, and will bring you more information about them as we
have it.
If you wish to stay informed about the status of either Raceway or
Montezuma's Revenge you can visit

Montezuma's Revenge

Hello Montezuma's Revenge fans,
USA Games would like to inform you of what is happening to Montezuma's
Revenge. All hope of playing this game is not lost. In fact, we predict
the game should go in to testing sometime before Christmas 2006 provided
daily life does not interfere with development of the game. We have some
major changes and updates in the works so please read on.
When USA Games acquired the Montezuma's Revenge, (Monty,) game engine
from Alchemy Game Studios it was quickly discovered that the level
editor had to be used by someone with sight. All the levels were drawn
to the screen, and then saved to a map file which was then read in to
the game engine. Since owner and developer of USA Games, (Thomas Ward,)
is totally blind the old level editor was not accessible. So USA Games
has decided to completely rewrite the engine from scratch to make it
fully accessible to the developer as well as add new features,
abilities, and possibly make Montezuma's Revenge a better game.
USA Games has already started work on the new Monty game engine, and
here is a little idea of what you may find in the next release of
Montezuma's Revenge. The new engine should have laptop and desktop key
mappings, USB digital joystick support, stereo and possibly 3D
perspective audio, a new female character, 10 basic temples and 4 bonus
temples, includes Neospeech Kate as the voice of the game, use of the
Microsoft .NET framework, and use of Microsoft DirectX 9.0C. In the end
it is a major rewrite, but perhaps Montezuma's Revenge will be a much
better game for it.
In a weeks time alone we have managed to program most of the menus, and
have written a good portion of the first temple area. We are currently
working on collision detection. Which is a programmers term for how a
game character reacts to encountering items such as walls, acid pits,
doors, keys, gems, gold, and so on. We are committed to doing our best
to have a fast turn around time on this game so have spent lots of extra
time to get a good start on it.

Final Conflict

Hello Final Conflict fans,
We have not forgotten you. We realize we have been busy working on our
other two major projects, but there is now a 1.0 beta available for fans
of Final Conflict. The new beta has many changes over Alpha 4.5.1, and
many fans enjoy the new beta.
In version 1.0 beta the Defiant and Sovereign-class starships are back
to stay. The Defiant unlike other starships is able to cloak, become
invisible to enemy starships and starbases, as well as extremely
powerful phasers. In addition you will find that the game uses Neospeech
Kate as the voice of the starships' computer, weapons are fired after
the move command is entered, ability to save custom settings, all new
high-quality realistic Star Trek effects, the introduction of the
Klingons, the enemies are split in to attack and defense groups, and
more. To download a demo see our site at
http://www.usagames.us
and try a copy.

Editor's note
this update was recieved on March 21 so more accurately informs the readership
of Audyssey.
