It is a rectangular box in which you put bait. When the rat goes inside the box to get the bait, it gets a fatal electric shock. The juice for the shock comes from batteries in the unit. For the sighted, the zapper comes with LED display to indicate that the box has an occupant. Then you take the box to your trashcan, let the dead rat slide out into the trashcan or else sling the rat into your neighbor's yard.
