Hi Larry, You won't find a real analog VOM these days unless you want to buy a used one and modify it your self.
Best there is is the imported chinese talking DMM that's been discussed on this list list extensively. DMMs are fine for static measurements, but no good for anything dynamic, changing. If you don't find the place to buy it on the archives, let me know I'm sure I kept it about somewhere. If you want to tackle modifying a real vom, we have circuits and advice, and might even be able to make you a braille dial to fit your modifications. If you're desperate and have money, a call to Tom Benham's company, now being run by his wifeLee, science products for the blind in Pennsylvania might dig up one of their modified simpson 260 VOMs, but it's gonna cost you a pretty packet. Are you absolutely convinced your old friend is truly dead? Let me know if I can help more? Tom Fowle Smith-Kettlewell rehab engineering center.
