Hi

I use framing brackets which have been made to nail support beams directly
off buildings.
When turned upside down on your PVC pipe the flanges give you a guide to cut
off your pipe correctly.
I drilled a hole through the bracket under the diameter of the pipe and put
a piece of rubber hose on the bolt and a wing nut on the end so when I place
the bracket over the pipe it fits nice and neat.
This allows you to position it anywhere along the pipe and cut it off
correctly every time.
