Hi all, I think, hope, believe, it is fixed, I needed to remove the rubber washer from the nut that goes onto the tail piece its self. As there is a plastic flange insert there that is compressed in the joint, I guess that seems to be enough of a washer. Removing the rubber washer inside the nut allowed the nut to thread far enough up on the tail piece that it gripped enough threads to get pretty tight.
It appears to not be leaking now. Also finally dosed it enough with drain cleaner to get it moving freely again, and I'm sure that helped reduce the pressure and leak tendency. I was convinced it was the vent clogged and somebody'd have to go on the roof to clear it. sue tried alternate doses of drain cleaner and powdered laundry soap down the slow drain, her hypothesis being that the cleaner would bust the stuff loose and the soap would help dissolve the grease so it could flow. i didn't think much of the soap idea, but hypothesis turns into validated theory by successfull experiment. >From now on, only very carefull use of a plunger on old plumbing. and, I'm designing an under sink water detector. Marry a smart and clever woman and do your darndest to keep her happy, nothing else you can do will come even close to doing so much to contribute to your own happiness. Still knocking on wooden head and crossing fingers. Thanks Dale, Mickey and all for the help. tom Net-Tamer V 1.13 Beta - Registered To listen to the show archives go to link http://acbradio.org/handyman.html or ftp://ftp.acbradio.org/acbradio-archives/handyman/ The Pod Cast address for the Blind Handy Man Show is. http://www.acbradio.org/news/xml/podcast.php?pgm=saturday The Pod Cast address for the Cooking In The Dark Show is. http://www.gcast.com/u/cookingindark/main.xml Visit The New Blind Handy Man Files Page To Review Contributions From Various List Members At The Following Address: http://www.jaws-users.com/handyman/ Visit the new archives page at the following address http://www.mail-archive.com/blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com/ For a complete list of email commands pertaining to the Blind Handy Man list just send a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo!
