Lost the message, but a couple days ago someone inquired as to whether a saw
motor that could be run on either 120 or 240 volts would elicit more power
on the 240 volt setting. Not likely. Changing the voltage setting probably
adds windings to a coil or equivalent electronic adjustment so the
performance of the saw remains constant. And of course, you don't want to
run the machine on the 120-volt setting but with 240 volts applied. For the
brief period it runs, it will certainly do something impressive, but it will
expire equally impressively.
