You usually press down on the control knob to make gas go to the pilot light for lighting. You have to rotate the knob to the correct location for it to be pressed down. After holding down on the knob and lighting the pilot, you continue holding down on the knob for about 1 minute, then you can turn the knob to the run position and you are in business.

It is one that hangs down from the cieling and I don't know what brand it is or anything but I am trying to light the pilot and get it to work The control valve is like a hot water heater that you can turn to pilot but I can't find any button to push to light the pilot like on a water heater. I think this heater has not been used in years. any help?
