Hi Robert, I primarily use air for a staple gun, brad and finish nail guns. I highly recommend the porter cable bn200 brad nailer. It will accept 18 gauge brads from I believe 5/8" to 2" long. I use mostly the 1 1/4" and the 2" brads. I also have a porter cable fn250 which will handle up to a 2 1/2" finish 16 gauge nail. My staple gun is a very inexpensive harbor freight. I think somewhere around $30. This tool gets very little use as compared to the other mailers. I specifically liked the porter cable because of the safety features It has an optional trigger that will prevent bump type firing. You must lift and reset the gun before you can shoot another nail. I don't remember where but I found my porter cable bn200 for about $105 and the other was a gift. I do use tire inflators and blow gun for cleaning I had a special fitting made for me that has the mail coupling on one end and the brass truck tire valve stem on the other. With this contraption I can use a talking tire pressure gauge to set different outputs. For my brad I use 60 psi for the finish nailer I use 80 psi and 90 psi for everything else. I have entertained the thought of a sand blasting cabinet. Years ago a friend had one that he used to clean small parts. His cabinet was about a 2 foot cube and there was a turntable at the bottom. when you started the air everything was self contained keeping you safe and his shop clean. He is no longer with us so I can not find out what manufacture developed this cleaning chamber.
Also I have a friend that has a machine shop.. He made a part for each of my nail guns that will clamp on the bottom. When this part is on it will make sure that the gun is perfectly perpendicular to the wood surface.
