Hi

I thought after sending  that message out last Night on tips on finding 
studs that if you could get into the Ceiling through a Man Hole and could 
get over the wall area in question.
Then you could feel how the studs are placed by then taking some 
measurements transfer this below rather than taking the wall apart.
Take extreme care while up there that you may come in contact with 
electrical wiring and walk on the rafters and support beams only.
