Bryce,

Probably what youall were hearing was the low pad indicators these are
devices that are imbedded in the brake pads that let you know that you
are about to trash a set of brake roters.

The reason I suggested checking the brakes, my daughters boy friend had
a 
wined coming from his car, and I told him it sound like the power
steering 
was making the squeal.  It turned out to be the brakes.  You could only
hear 
the squeal when the car was moving.
