Hi Rita,
There is one thing that you may wish to try before replacing.
I have a friend that has a used appliance shop. When he gets a unit that has
a seal that is not torn but not tight he does a simple repair. He First
cleans then pulls the seal away from the door and heats it with a hair
dryer. Then hole it away until it cools. I have used this technique on a
refrigerator that we have in the basement and I must repeat about once a
year.
He also uses a piece of paper to check the seal.
He uses a piece about the size of a dollar bill By closing the door on it
you can tell how tight the seal is by moving the paper all around and
slightly pulling on it.

I did replace one gasket where I had to fold it back and remove hex head
screws all around the door. then reversed the process with the new gasket.

Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] refrigerator door seal

Hello Everyone,
I just had a new compressor put into my refrigerator and now I notice the
seal is not tight. I am careful to push
the door completely
shut each time. Certainly the seal needs to be replaced. How does one go
about doing this and I would need
step by step instructions as the janitor in my building has such high
prices. It is my own refrigerator. With the weather
being as it is, I may not do this for a week or so.
Any ideas would
really be appreciated. Rita
