No. The oven dial is actually a thermostat. When the oven temperature reaches
the selected setting temperature, the thermostat senses the temperature of the
oven and turns the gas off. After the gas is off, the oven will slowly start to
drop in temperature. The thermostat will sense the drop in temperature and
turn the gas back on again until the set temperature is again reached. By
increasing or decreasing the size of the flame on the oven burner, it will take
more or less time respectively to reach the set temperature. It won't change
the calibration of the thermostat.

question; by messing with this regulator, is there a chance that the dial
for setting the oven temperature will loose it's calibration? Another
words, if you want to set your oven temperature at 350 degrees, and by
turning up or down the regulator, wouldn't that either lower or higher the
heat giving you a false reading for the 350 degrees setting?
