surely something that is non conductive, for if the heat makes it run, it 
could leak out, thus you'll start higher in the socket and zzzzt tip and 
side are connected.
If the material runs out, it may break the glass for ya. We used to put 
oil on the bulbs to make the place smell nice. We've replaced less bulbs 
since we stopped being hippies.
Can you grab the bulb with duck tape when removing?
