Hi Dale, I just made a sleeve. I will let her look at it before I glue. There is no way to deflect it for insertion of a new rod. there are two existing rods in place . One at the hinged end and the second in the middle about 3 inches away. The one that broke is the one that has the locking ends. I know that they are not expensive to replace and that is my third choice. It just might end up in my friends camping firewood box. That is what would be left after I salvaged the remaining rods for some unknown future project. I sure hope that you are feeling a little better. Hi Lenny, Are you sure you don't have enough room to slip a new dowel into place? Remember that once one end is inserted you only need to distort the arrangement about half the thickness of one end framing member to slide it into the hole at that end. that is probably a deflection of probably 3/8ths of an inch or maybe less.. Forming a sleeve would work too of course. One problem is that the darn things come into North America for only a few bucks in the first place so it isn't worth too much effort. That is a shame in a way, they are nice bits of material and should be preserved.
