I raised the question on the Fine Woodworking Knots Forum and have received a number of answers that it cannot be done because the arbor isn't long enough, the motor's not powerful enough and the blade guard wouldn't allow it. I also received a number of answers that were horrified at the question because it would be so unsafe to do so.
