A couple of years ago I bought a VIP 2001 talking thermostat, and was very pleased till yesterday. Last summer my air conditioner didn't seem as if it was running as well as it did in previous summers. So we received a flyer in the mail for servicing your central air, and set up an appointment. Well, the technician came yesterday and did his thing servicing the unit. After he'd been here for a while, he told me my unit was only running in the first stage, and wouldn't go into the second stage. So he took a look at my talking thermostat and told me the thermostat was the problem. I said, what do you mean? He told me that the thermostat was only made to run a one stage unit and my unit called for a thermostat that was capable of running a 2 stage unit. This morning I sent a message off to talking thermostat, and will see what they have to say.
