Dear list members:
In the early seventies I had a client who owned an auto parts store in our
little town. The city was called to come out and try and find the source of
that smell which is put in natural gas to alert folks to a leak. The city
crew shows up and start the search. The fellow explained the technique, that
being to light a match and move it along the floor, and when it got brighter,
they figured they were close to the leak. They found the leak alright , and
when the flame got brighter, it caused an explosion that threw the lady out the
door, who owned the place. The fire that followed caused extensive damage to
the building and its contents.
Back in those days, there were not affordable detectors available to small
towns, but one would think that the smell alone would have been good enough to
figure out that there was a leak?

                Yours Truly,

                Clifford Wilson
