To use one of these, wouldn't the handyperson have to be sure that the first
vigorous whack was going to have the nail/staple going * straight into the
material? I have to hold the nail/staple for the first few whacks as I am not
sure that my first vigorous whack is * going to be 100% straight.
If I have this right, the fixing device is held by the magnets? When the first
blow has been struck, does one then drag the hammer free from the magnetic
field in preparation for the second, third, fourth and so on blow. Sounds a
bit energy-sapping to me.
The Thumb Saver would certainly come into its own when tacks or very small
nails are being used as there is rarely any hammering space between my fingers
and the head of the tack.
