Well, I don't have a Wayfinder system yet but so far I haven't heard anything
about trekker that Wayfinder doesn't have except perhaps size and price. I did
read something that John May wrote criticizing the phone based systems for the
amount of information they provide but considering he has a very direct
interest in his units I wouldn't really expect anything else.

Ultimately you can spend nearly as much if you buy the very most expensive
phone and speech software it is true. All things being equal though I like the
size and flexibility offered by the phone option. That is the trouble
though, discovering if all things are equal.

Another very handy feature Trekker has is the ability to browse routes
offline. Doing this enables you to find out what type of intersections
you'll be dealing with, what businesses or institutions you'll be passing by
etc. My wife routinely uses the built-in Daisy player to read while
walking, and the GPS instructions or announcements are set to interrupt the
reading of the book. It's truly a very nice system. I don't know that much
about Wayfinder, but my understanding is that it doesn't have anywhere near
the features of Trekker or some of the other GPS solutions like Sendaro's
  (sp).

Dale, I am not sure about way finder. One nice feature that trekker has is
the ability to map out a course either pedestrian or mobile. A few months
ago I wanted to visit a friends parents to drop off something. All I had was

the address. I was in the car and not near a computer to get a map. I just
entered the address and we had turn by turn instructions right to the door.
When walking down the street I learned about a Mac machine that I did not
know existed. Trekker told me about it as I passed. Also with Trekker you
can search for a point of interest and then create a talking map to it. Also

you can create a poi like my dentist office with some instructions how to
get into the office. If you have the maestro option you can take notes, read

  books or listen to music.
I had no desire to do that however if I were still working I definitely
would have that option. These are a few highlights.

  Hi,

What does it do better than say Wayfinder Access on a mobile phone?

I don't yet have it but it sure looks very capable and is so much smaller
  and more portable.

Right now anyway, Trekker with Maistro has all the rest beat hands down in
my opinion considering price, ease of use etc. It's also possible to get
free training from Leader Dog on one of these, even if you don't work a
  dog.

This is probably off topic but I don't know who else to ask. Can anyone
  recommend an accessible GPS product.
