Instructions
Difficulty: Moderate

Things You'll Need
Free wall space
Pegboard
Level
Stud detector
Pencil or your own marking device.
Wood screws
1-by-2-inch board
Drill
Tape measure

Steps

Step One
Measure the area of wall where you want to hang the pegboard. Make sure
that the area is large enough to have a stud under each side to anchor
the pegboard
to the wall. Use a pencil to mark the location of the studs at the top
and bottom of the area where you plan on hanging your pegboard.

Step Two
Go to the nearest home improvement store to buy the correct size
pegboard. You will also need 1-by-2-inch boards cut into four pieces.
Two pieces should
be the horizontal length of your pegboard and the other two the vertical
length minus 4 inches.

Step Three
Hold one of the longer 1-by-2-inch boards against the wall where the
bottom edge of the pegboard will be. Use a level to get it straight and
then mark your
board on each end where the stud will be.

Step Four
Pre-drill holes into the 1-by-2-inch board where you placed the marks.
Hold the board against the wall using your level to ensure the board is
straight,
and secure it to the studs using wood screws.

Step Five
Measure from the bottom edge of the 1-by-2-inch board already secured to
the wall to where the top edge will be located, and mark the wall with a
pencil.
Place the other longer board against the wall at your marking, and mark
the stud location on each end of the board. Remember to use a level for
accurate
placement.

Step Six
Pre-drill holes into the 1-by-2-inch board where you placed the marks.
Hold the board against the wall using your level to ensure the board is
straight,
and secure it into the studs with wood screws.

Step Seven
Pre-drill holes into the shorter pieces of 1-by-2-inch board, one on
each end, and one in the middle Secure the three boards to the wall
along the studs forming rectangles.

Step Eight
Attach the pegboard to the rectangles frames by drilling wood screws
into the peg holes at each corner. Add screws around the edge, spacing
out every few
inches to secure it.

Overall Tips & Warnings
Paint the pegboard to coordinate with your room colours before you hang
it on the wall.
If you do not secure the pegboard to a stud, it will not be strong
enough to hold the weight of the supplies you hang on it.
Look for assorted packets of hooks which now come in different
arrangements to hang many different shaped objects.
