I'll let you have the capitol. I've known of some guys to drive across lake Erie from Buffalo to Cleveland when it froze. That's before cell phones too. But Old Forge New York gets cold enough to turn motor oil into Vaseline. And to me that took the fun out of it... ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill Gallik To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, November 20, 2007 12:13 PM Subject: Snowmobile Capitols - Was: [BlindHandyMan] electric heaters
Wait, wait, wait!!! Now just hold on a minute there. I was under the impression that the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Indianhead Counties of Northern Wisconsin and the Arrowhead Counties of Northeastern Minnesota made up the snowmobile capitol of the lower 48 States! You can literally run a snowmobile trail from Sioux Ste Marie on the far eastern end of the UP and Lake Superior up to International Falls, Minnesota. There are trails connecting Green Bay, Wausau and Stevens Point to the Wisconsin South Shore (of Lake Superior) and I know guys that have run their sleds from the Twin Cities up to Bayfield County where I grew up. Of course, this discourse is all meant in good fun because that snowmobiling passtime is truly a real blast. And so much cleaner than 4-Wheeling! Truthfully though, the expanse of area and the quality of trails in the UP, Northern Wisconsin and Northeastern Minnesota region does make up a tremendous snowmobiling experience -- that is when we all get enough snow! ---------------- Bill Gallik E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - "When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether it had happened or not." - Mark Twain [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
