This old house is an example of the migration of PBS from a poor man's station
to a how-to-do for the rich. They have learned to cater to the rich because
they are the big contributers. That is why we see extreme kitchens, mansions
with 30 foot ceilings for a family of three, and they act like this is
perfectly normal.

This is all a product of the tax structure. Back in the 60s the highest tax
bracket was 93%. I think it's 30% now. The rich are getting richer by making
computer operating systems that are full of bugs, at the expense of the poor.

I can remember when they were throwing away granite, removing cedar shingles
from houses, ceramic tile from bathrooms, lowering 30-foot ceilings, carving
mansions into studio apartments, etc. Now they are undoing all this.
