Yes, it is great information. Verizon uses westell wireless modems/routers. I am very impressed with the range that a friend down the street has. He has security so he knows that he is connected to his system. With his laptop he can connect from my home a block away and a restaurant about 3 blocks away. A lot of times I found it's the brand instead of the surroundings. I had a Linksys from Sysco with wireless built in and we couldn't access it anywhere in the house unless you were within about 20 feet of the router. I bought a NetGear and I can connect from anywhere in the house now wirelessly. We have a large split level and the lowest level has brick walls. I left the router in the same place as the other and it just works that much better. The router was originally just a basic router with no wireless capabilities, and was located were the cable modem is. Unfortunately, this is probably the worst place in the whole house for any kind of radio transmition/reception, since it's close to an outside wall and adjacent to a chimney with metal in it. So, Are there antennas or boosters available that I can buy to boost the signal on this router? I believe it's either a pre-N or an N standard unit. I think I might be able to relocate the router to a better spot, but because of the way the cables were initially run, it would require either another router, or sacrificing hard-wire internet access in a couple of rooms.
