I don't know if this helps, but I just buy the good old basic Stanley tape measures from any old hardware store and pay somebody with eyes to mark them up with a file. Typically, I mark up inches on one side and feet on the other, but I've also just marked up the first foot in inches and marked up by feet for the rest of the tape. I've had one of these last a long time.
